Overview
The "Customer" is a central entity within the Inspire Platform, serving as a cornerstone for various interactions. Essentially, every other entity within the system is connected to a customer. Here are the key aspects of the Customer entity:
Essential Connection: To generate Payments, Orders, Invoices, and Subscriptions within the platform, it is mandatory to select a customer. This association ensures that all financial and operational activities are linked to the appropriate customer profile.
Payment Links: Payment links can only be paid at the hosted checkout by a customer. This customer can either be an existing one or a new customer generated by entering a new email address. This flexibility allows for smooth payment processing within the platform.
Detailed Customer View: On the customer's detail page, tenant users have access to a comprehensive overview of all activities related to that specific customer. This includes a list of invoices, subscriptions, orders, and payments made within the platform. Additionally, information about the payment methods previously used by the customer is available, providing insights into their payment history.
Coupon Application: The platform offers the capability to apply a coupon directly to a customer. This means that the next payment generated for that customer will automatically have the coupon applied. In the case of a coupon with a duration set to "forever," it will be applied to all payments made by the customer, ensuring consistent discounts.
Pending Invoice Items: Through the customer's detail page and exclusively there, users can create pending invoice items. These items are non-recurring products that can be added to the invoice of a subscription during one of its recurrence cycles. This feature simplifies the billing process, as customers do not need to be charged separately for additional non-recurring products purchased between subscription invoices. It streamlines the experience, akin to models used by platforms like Disney+, where customers can buy non-recurring products (e.g., a movie) and pay for them within their subscription (monthly platform payment).
It's important to note that, unlike other entities within the Inspire Platform, customers do not possess a distinct status. Instead, customer records are primarily based on the email address associated with them. Consequently, if the same individual uses different email addresses for their interactions with the platform, separate customer profiles will be created for each unique email address. This approach ensures that customer data remains distinct and accurately reflects their various interactions, regardless of the email address used.
