Overview
The Inspire platform features a fundamental component known as a "Subscription." A Subscription on this platform is characterized by its recurring nature, which can occur daily, weekly, monthly, every three months, every six months, or yearly. At its core, a Subscription must be associated with at least one product, although it can encompass multiple products, all sharing the same recurrence period.
The process of creating a Subscription can be immediate, but users have the option to schedule its commencement for a later date. Subscriptions are designed to generate Invoices at the onset of each new recurrence cycle. The payment for these invoices can be managed in two ways: through automatic charges facilitated by credit cards or manual payment, where customers receive an Invoice Link via email for payment.
Active Subscriptions are flexible and can be subject to various changes. Users have the ability to cancel them or schedule their cancellation for a specific date. Additionally, payment collection for subscriptions can be temporarily paused, allowing Invoices to be generated without actual charges during this period. Furthermore, Subscriptions themselves can be paused, resulting in the non-generation of Invoices. However, this pause can only be applied for a duration ranging from 1 to 12 weeks, and manual reactivation is not possible during this period.
In addition to the previously mentioned features, the Inspire platform also offers the capability to include a free trial period within a Subscription. This means that when a Subscription is created, it has the option to offer a trial period during which no Invoices are generated. Instead, the first Invoice for the Subscription is generated at the conclusion of this trial period. It's important to note that while a Subscription is in its trial phase, the trial period's details, such as its duration, can be edited, but once the trial period is over, another trial period cannot be added to it.
Moreover, Subscriptions within the Inspire platform can be associated with a single coupon at any given time. Coupons serve as discounts applied to the Invoices generated for the Subscription. The duration of these coupons can vary significantly, ranging from a single use to indefinite use. Consequently, the application of discounts through coupons offers flexibility in managing Subscription pricing for customers.
Possible statuses for a Subscription:
- Trialing: The Subscription is presently in a trial phase, and it is safe to set up your product for the customer. The Subscription will automatically shift to the 'Active' status once the initial payment is made.
- Active: The Subscription is in excellent standing, with the most recent payment having been successfully processed. It is safe to provide your product or service to the customer.
- Unpaid: The most recent Invoice has not been settled, but the Subscription remains intact. The outstanding Invoice remains open, and new Invoices continue to be generated, though no payment attempts are made.
- Scheduled: The Subscription has been established but has not yet commenced. It has a scheduled start date that can be modified until the Subscription is officially initiated.
- Canceled: The Subscription is no longer generating Invoices or being billed, and the customer is no longer receiving the product or service.
- No collection: Payment collection has been suspended, but Invoices will still be generated with statuses such as "Void," "Uncollectable," or "Draft." The customer will retain access to the platform, service, or product.
- Paused: The customer's access to the service, product, or platform is temporarily suspended for a chosen period, which can range from 1 to 12 weeks. Invoices will not be generated until the pause period concludes.
